‘Game of Thrones’ fans will rejoice at the homage paid to the show in the premier. The episode is set in an alternate world called ‘The Serfsons’ in which fantasy reference abound from popular TV shows, movies, novels and video games.

Within the opening sequence alone, the episode references ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ several times.

After the opening sequence, the episode focuses on Barber Hibbert’s Surgery. Within these scenes, references are made to ‘The Smurfs’, ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda’.

The following sequence focuses on finding a cure for Marge’s mom of the Ice Walker disease. More references are made to ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ and also to ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’.

Lastly, the finals scenes make more references to ‘Game of Thrones’, but also some new additions. ‘Magic: The Gathering’, ‘Elric of Melnibone’ and ‘The Dark is Rising’ get some nods by the show.
